Zoo Med HydroBalls Expanded Clay Terrarium Substrate provides a lightweight substrate for a multitude of terrarium installations.

HydroBalls can be used as a base layer underneath Zoo Med Eco Earth Compressed Coconut Fibre or other similar substrates to create an underground water table in a terrarium. Add water to this multi-use substrate to create a natural aquifer and increase humidity levels for all tropical species. HydroBalls also provide an excellent substrate for live plant root growth in naturalistic terrariums.

This multi-function substrate can also be used for filtration for a waterfall with the addition of a pump to the HydroBall layer, generating water flow and a further focal point within the terrarium.
