Engineered for Prismatic Multi-scale Performance Each instrument to emerge from the lauded Ibanez Bass Workshop is the result of its luthiers’ longstanding commitment to engineering innovative approaches to meet the distinct needs of the modern bass-playing landscape. The Ibanez Bass Workshop BTB866MS is no exception. Its quintet of tonewoods starts with the eye-grabbing ash top that’s flanked by okoume wings, while a resounding panga panga fretboard tops the 5-piece neck comprising maple and walnut. This 6-string, neck-through bass offers exceptionally smooth playability, courtesy of its multi-scale frets and ergonomic design, with two T1 humbuckers supplying velvety tone and whole-spectrum haymakers. Moreover, the onboard 3-band EQ circuit — crafted courtesy of Ibanez Custom Electronics — and 3-way mid-frequency switch are joined by a dedicated EQ-bypass control, supporting near-endless tonal contouring, and essential to the live-performance prowess of Sweetwater’s gigging bassists.
