- REPLACEMENT IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE - The IAC is to provide additional air to the engine through the air valve when the engine starts at a low temperature to maintain the engine runs at idle speed steadily, allowing the engine to warm up quickly after starting, thereby shortening the warm-up time. When the idle control valve fails it can cause all sorts of issues with the vehicle, such as idles erratically and surges and in some cases may even render it undrivable.
