It features a battery powered (2AA) capsule with three levels of gain control for superb sensitivity and low noise. It also features an audio port for live monitoring of sound via headphones. It is constructed of reinforced ABS with an integrated suspension shock mount and camera shoe with tripod socket which can be used both on-camera or off (attached to tripod or stand).
