Whirlpool WP35-6780 Top Load Washer Drain Pump

This Top Load Washer Drain Pump is located at the bottom of the appliance and removes water during the drain portion of the wash cycle. If your washer doesn’t drain properly, replacing this part may alleviate this issue. This part may also be needed if water drips out of the tub during use or there’s an unpleasant noise during operation. Note that this pump has been redesigned and may look different than the current part in your appliance; the new pump attaches directly to the base of the washer and no longer requires a mounting plate. To access the part, start by removing the front access panel of the washer. You'll then remove the hoses attached to the pump (be sure to place some towels down to catch any water). Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets* (item W10135699) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.
